Hi folks.
Not much to say of great importance in the big scheme of things except that I am sitting here soaked to the skin, my hair is dripping, I have canvass sheets laid out all over my living room to dry and we just had one of our best days out there here in NE PA.
My little boy and I were out canvassing again today. We've been out every weekend for about a month. He's 8 years old and walks for miles, cheerfully smiling and skipping along as we go from house to house.
We've put in about 24 hours total over the past month. Every spare minute we have, we canvass.
Today was our first pouring down, cats and dogs, bucket-filled drenching cloudburst soaking wet rain that we've had while we've been out there.
Our canvass sheets were soaked. Our literature would rip off if we tried to pull it out of a pile. The pen marks on our sheets smeared or the pens just ripped the soaking wet paper.
My eyelashes were dripping. My little guy's pants were falling down because the wetness made them so heavy.
But we had the best day ever. I don't think there was a door we knocked on today in our five hours in the rain that didn't support Obama. If they were home - they were for Obama. Period. We didn't have to do any more but introduce ourselves and the people would say OBAMA.
People would come out to greet us - IN THE RAIN - to say OBAMA. They would stand there and talk to us IN THE POURING RAIN about why they wanted OBAMA to win. About why they were voting OBAMA.
Even the HRC people...Well, we wanted Hillary, they'd say. But we are voting for Obama now. He's our guy.
Wow. Just from how people were today, I can tell, something's different. Something's clicked. Something's working.
People are hearing OBAMA. Whatever he is saying, people are hearing it.
And that is such a good thing. I feel so content. I feel so encouraged. My little guy just got out of a hot shower and we're going to have hot cocoa with marshmallows now. And feel really, really good.
