I talked about how a major City in the USA is running on Fumes here However since then it hasn't gotten any better. We got an extra shipment on friday and the local press is now saying that we could be again running on fumes. Yet the fact of the matter is, there is not any national press, there is not any major blogs about that. Only the ones that are effected is the ones that are talking about it. For four days now, there as been a blog or two about this from those here at DailyKos I haven't seen anything from anyone else. So I ask why?
Charlotte NC is purple deep purple. Meaning it can turn blue with a snap of the fingers. I stopped by the Obama office today, to do a donation and asked what they though this gas problem could do to the campaign, and they worry this could last. Think about it. there are 6 major cities in NC, if they can hit the streets and talk to enough people the state can turn blue. However if the biggest city controlled a Republican that is running for the governorship of the state that could turn blue on him and he could lose his campaign and most likely will lose his campaign if the state goes blue, is now in the heart of a major gas shortage seems to come off more than a little odd to me.
I am not trying to say that HE IS doing something to cause a problem, and do something to change the chances of Obama winning the state and it going against him, Robin Hayes and Liddy Dole. However you have to look at the fact that there isn't a single major national news person in this city to talk about this. It makes me wonder what is going on.
Charlotte until this morning just so you know, is the second, SECOND largest banking town in the US next to NYC. We have still one of the best new home markets in the US as well. We still rose, (though it has slowed) last quarter in new home sales. We are the largest city in NC and have the biggest growth in Progressives for a non college town next to Asheville.
With that being said, hard to go door to door when you don't have gas to get to the street you need to go door to door at. hard to make it to the meetings when you can't even make it to work. If a Hurricane, ONE hurricane can make this city go short for gas for weeks, then we need to go to natural gas or flintstone power. This should be on all the blogs how because we have let big oil put money into their pockets and not into ungrading and making new refiners and better pipe lines. I am sure with the profits they made they could have make this problem fix itself in seconds not weeks.
Yet nothing is being talked about unless you are living in the hell. I think we need to take a hard look at how big oil is bring a major US city it is knees and we can't even get 30 seconds on the nightly news? Why am I the only one that feels that is more than a bit odd. Does the nations just not care anymore, or does the news not care, or do progressives just not care that this could be what swings this state from the brink of Blue to the Deep Red? I am just asking the questions. You can supply the answer and maybe the gas.
