Californians will vote on Proposition 8, the Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry Act, in the General Elections on November 4th.
A small group of folks got together to voice their opposition to this Prop, and created the following message:
One of the initial thoughts going into creating this video was, "Hold on... who says that the Religious Right are the only folks who get to cherry-pick the Bible?" Sure, there's lots of crazy rules in Leviticus, but isn't there something about Love somewhere in the New Testament...?
The text is very popular, from Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians, and contains some of the most quoted passages from the Bible. I'm hoping that a lot of folks who are planning to vote Yes on 8 will see this video and remember the readings from their own wedding, and think twice.
As a side note, the Lesbian couple featured in the piece have been together far longer than my parents were married. They also taught me how to play D&D back in 1980, so I have them to thank - or blame - for helping me become the uber-geek I am today: a D&D player who will be voting No on 8 and casting his vote for Obama.
Please feel free to share this video with anyone you feel would benefit from it, and take a moment to visit No on 8.
Thanks for watching,
