So, that un-aired footage that CBS has of Couric interviewing Caribou Barbie? It, uh, turns out to be pretty frackin' awesome.
Yup, Gov. Palin apparently couldn't name a Supreme Court case other than Roe v. Wade when asked by noted grizzled tele-journalist Katie Couric. Not. ONE.
Now, call me crazy. I've been called worse before- but I'd kind of like someone who could be a single 72 year old, multiple cancer survivor heartbeat away from the Presidency and the awesome responsibility of appointing judges who will serve FOR LIFE to know a little bit about the Supreme Court. But nope, Gov. Palin apparently couldn't name one case other than the one she doesn't like so much. Brown vs. Board of Education? Nope. Plessy vs. Ferguson? Nada. Heck, I would have accepted the People vs. Larry Flynt for the love of god.
This kind of happy ignorance is the sort of thing that should really be setting off all kinds of alarms for independents and thinking conservatives out there- and trust me there are thinking conservatives out there, despite recent appearances to the contrary. My dad is a conservative leaning independent and he's been absolutely HORRIFIED every time he finds out another tidbit from the amazing foot in mouth machine that is Sarah Palin. He was thinking about voting for Bob Barr but told me the other day after seeing the first parts of the Couric interview that he couldn't live with himself if by not voting for Obama McCain got elected... even though he lives in Georgia! So, keep hope alive and let people out there KNOW about stuff like this. It does make a difference.
Update: Whoa, first diary and the reclist? Thanks, folks. I agree that we should wait to see footage before we REALLY fire up the torches and reach for the pitchforks, but MAN. I don't know how this could be portrayed as "good" for her in any shape, way or form.
