Just occurred to me tonight that Johnny boy might have a little gambling addiction. It could explain his behavior. Any recovering GA's out there? I know there's recovery folks out in KOS land. So, without revealing your particular addictive affiliation, feel free to chime in. Maybe this will become a chat meeting. I didn't read the whole NYT article so I don't know if they discussed this.
- Very irritable. Also seems restless (plays with his wedding ring a lot while others speak, very fidgety) and is discontent quite a bit.
- When things aren't going his way, pulls a stunt to try to get his way.
- One of the hallmarks of addiction is that if it (gambling) is in one part of your life it's usually in other parts.
- Admitted he likes to gamble.
- Cheated on his wife. Most addicts I know have cheated.
- Can't look you in the eye.
- Has excuses for everything (POW, it's the other guy's fault or problem)
- Is in denial (well, most politicians are)
- Reluctant to talk about a higher power.
- Can you say "closed mind"?
- Always taking the other guy's inventory. (guess I'm taking his right now)
- Has a very wealthy co-dependent ex-addict to fall back on. Addicts usually attract other addicts. (If Cindy's in recovery, she gets major kudos for being very anonymous)
