Hey, I think I found the bail out money. It would be enough to kick start our economy, and YOU CAN BANK ON IT.
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling the largest business operating within the United States is "Religion" the tax free business of religion. yes, the multi billion dollar "Business" that is tax free. I live in one of the most expensive city's in the country, and if you check out who owns most of the real estate you will find without doubt, its a religious organization. This includes Scientology. It includes every religion. Scientology for example owns several buildings on Hollywood Blvd. These are not little shops, these are 18 story buildings on some pricey real estate. How can they afford to buy all of these buildings? They are a business. They are a very successful business that does not participate into our tax system.
They have worked the system. You can't blame them, blame the system that allows it. What would happen if today, we the people revoked the tax free status of "The Church" What would that bring into the economy?
Why not give "The Church" Tax exempts for specific things. For example, A small church runs itself, and helps out the homeless, and feeds the elderly, and needs to pay it's bills. Well of course you want to keep that part of "The Business" tax free. I am talking about the big fish that are so big, they can keep buying these huge buildings everywhere.
If you run a church, you should be treated just like any other business and be ready to prove your write offs. Let's face it, religion is the largest business in this country, and it should be treated as such.
There is your bail out. Now go take it. I think Germany took the first step with Scientology. They are not treated as "A Religion"
What steps can we take here ? Is Religion a business? Should it be taxed? Should part of it be taxed?
I can't wait to see the new Bill Maher movie "Religulous" I hope he brings this up.
