Romney Clusterf%&*: Chicago Trib Gets it Wrong

Um, is this how you folks remember the Kossack Romney strategy going down?

Seems a little ass-backwards...

Morrissey delights in the failure of liberal blogger Markos Moulitsas of Daily Kos to create mischief since Democrats didn't turn out in large numbers to vote for McCain. Since there wasn't a real contest for Democrats in Michigan, with Sen. Hillary Clinton being the only major Democratic candidate on the ballot, Kos has asked Democrats to vote instead in the Republican primary for McCain in order to torpedo Romney.

Morrissey says:

In any case, the crossover gambit flopped. Michigan voters proved their seriousness, even while others encouraged them to play silly games with the franchise.

  And why is it "mischeif"?  Neither Democrats or Republicans are monolithic.  40% of the American public self-identifies as "Independent" i.e. there is a wide range of viewpoints in the American populace.

  So why do many states have "open" primaries in the first place? My guess, to allow Independents to vote in either primary, as they are "Independent".

  My further guess is that it is only "mischeif" when Democrats do it.

  It is pretty bad when running  virtually unopposed you can only garner 55% of the vote. If the powers that be had let the primary go forward like they should have I think she would have lost to Obama and maybe even Edwards. Like someone said last night it would have been nice to see the results in a more diversified state.
