Turnout in Nevada

The turnout experience from Iowa and New Hampshire continues.

The Democratic Party of Nevada expects a turnout of 114,000.
Republican, with much easier caucus rules, had a turnout of round about 45,000.

Sure, the Dem caucus initiated much more interest, as most of the Republican candidates concentrated on South Carolina. Still Democrats doubled Republican turnout in a purple state, most probably a swing state in the general election.

    CNN is showing are the delegates won by each candidate, not the caucus participants.

    There is a gazillion delegates in Nevada, I'm not sure how it works but those are not the voters.

    My interest will be to know the Hispanic participation in Nevada. If we engage a good amount of Hispanic voters early it will look really good come November.

    •  Each precinct is allocated a number of

      delegates (like 2 or 3) to the state convention.  Apparently Nevada has the state delegates vote for one delegate to the state convention from each district, so where each candidate won precinct delegates matters in how many national delegates they won.

      Clinton won the most state delegates, but because Obama's delegates were more widespread, he actually appears to be winning 13 delegates to the national convention versus Clinton's 12.

      It's the electoral college problem, pushed down to the state level; and then carried down to the local level by their caucus system.  What fun!
