Little Help on Posting video

Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 11:33:46 PM PDT

Kos FAQ section on embedding video from Youtube uses the following syntax:

Actual You Tube URL:

http://www.youtube.com/...

KOS EMBED VIDEO instructions say to embed this you use:

There are however two problems...

  1. The double parenthesis doesn't seem to work.

For example:

http://www.youtube.com/...

Which doesn't seem to work at all.

  1. Underscores are tagged as problems in the FAQ, so is there a way around it?

Sample URL:
http://www.youtube.com/...

Any one know the answers here?

Thanks

Was that it worked when comments were posted, but not in the preview mode.

When I posted the parent to this, the Youtube insertion didn't work. However, I just reloaded the page, and it now appears. Likewise, when I first loaded this diary the videos in the body weren't there - but now they are.

Perchance it takes a minute or so for the code on the server that fixes the link to update? Regardless, you can also just use the Youtube-supplied "Embed" code...

When they didn't work in preview mode I assumed they weren't working... the FAQ didn't note that.

What's the problem? Just copy the embed code into the text area.

Just copy the embed code and paste it here.

I guess its true... you can't always believe everything that you read.

This was the KOS FAQ instructions:

      Embedding YouTube Video

To embed YouTube videos, put the word youtube and the video ID of the clip in question in a double set of parentheses: . YouTube URLs are of the format http://www.youtube.com/... ; the video ID is everything after the equals sign, so for this example, you would type . You can also copy the YouTube 'embed' code and paste that into your diary/comment.

When embedding a video, it's a good idea to give at least a short recap or summary of what's in the clip; not everybody can easily play embedded video.

Note: At the moment, YouTube videos whose video IDs contain underscores (for example, http://www.youtube.com/... will not embed properly, either using the shortcut method or the 'embed' code.

I guess they fixed it. thanks for stopping by though.
