Your preference for the Repuglican nomination?

Sat Jan 26, 2008 at 07:56:02 AM PDT

In the interests of supporting non  candidate diaries, at least Democratic candidate diaries, I thought I'd do a candidate diary about republicons.

I hope Rudy wins it because I think he'd be the easiest for any of our candidates to beat.

I think Rudy is basically the craziest and that includes Ron Paul who is plenty weird.
I also think he'd be the easiest to beat. Rudy has no vision at all for this country that doesn't include him and 911. If elected, he will out-Bush Bush.

Ive never personally understood why he can claim to be a hero of 9/11. I thought he was just doing what he was paid to do. Other mayors have had terrible disasters to deal with but they didn't think they deserved to be president for it.

The guys got a monumental ego, not that thats rare in politicians. But Rudy REALLY thinks his shit doesn't stink, knows it as a matter of fact. The guy's like a cartoon, like one of those giant Macy's Parade balloon.

If he gets it, I'm going to be running pictures of him in drag on conservative websites every day. Not that I'm against wearing drag (for others) but when a Repuglican's doing it, its notable.

I know others in NY and other places agree with me "...after all, Rudy Giuliani was just a lame-duck mayor with abysmal approval ratings, a tabloidy personal life and uncertain job prospects...."

I think the hardest to beat would be McCain. I'm interested in hearing what you have to say.

    Just curious what people think

If Liberals really hated America we'd vote Republican

    •  I think (0+ / 0-)

I think I dropped a potential republican nominee off in the toilet this morning.

Seriously though, I think Huckabible would get creamed.

      •   Paul would be the easiest, then Rudy, then Huck (0+ / 0-)

        That what I think
I should have said: Easiest to  beat of those who have a real chance at the nomination. No chance for RP and diminishing chance now for Rudy.

As I write this, no one has voted for McCAin, echoing my belief that he would be the hardest to beat.

Since usually it's presented as "hardest to beat"...which IMO is still McCain, but even with that said, I think he's beatable by any of our big 3.

Huckabee Giuliani and Romney would both get trounced by either Clinton or Obama, at about the same rates.  McCain is about even with both.  I think that's because most people don't get, yet, that McCain's Iraq policy is so nuts.

I would prefer to run against Huckabee because his loss would most fracture the Republican party, forcing them to rethink their structure and goals.

  •  I'm torn. (0+ / 0-)

Perhaps this will make more sense if you realize that I don't actually like any of the candidates: I perceive (rightly or wrongly) that they are all equally awful, but some are more equal than others.

I'm torn between wanting a more-equal-than-the-others bozo for their nomination, for our candidate to handily beat, and maybe a less-equal-than-others clown for their nomination, in case our electorate just completely chokes on the idea of electing a Democrat and ignores our nominee.

Maybe part of the problem is that our electoral process naturally selects not those who are most suited to lead and administrate, but those who are most able to con us into following them.

    Anyone but McCain.

He's the only one who consistently polls well against Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. The rest just don't.

Fortunately, a lot of Republicans are also saying "anyone but McCain" right now.

    •  But, (0+ / 0-)

we've gotta STOP being afraid of McCain - that just feeds his gargantuan ego. Nope, we can savagely go after him - he's got PLENTY of negatives:

      1. He's a neocon and war-monger
      1. He's a Bush sycophant with plenty of quotes & photos
      1. He knows almost nothing about economics
      1. He's arrogant and conceited
      1. He's a smug, smarmy liar
      1. He's a mean-spirited hothead
      1. He's 71 years old
      1. His republican supporters are going to be racists, sexists and big money corporatists (if he's the nominee). And there will be lots of YouTube videos of him agreeing with them (macaca moments) - there already is one of his supporters calling Hillary a bitch and him laughingly agreeing with them - can you imagine if Obama is the nominee what's gonna happen in his townhalls and rallies?
      1. Republicans HATE him.
      1. All he's got right now are the media and the independents - and we can work with that (rapid response, YouTube).

I think McCain's gonna do himself in - with our help - no matter who our nominee is.

And it's gonna be fun taking that asshole down!

  •  Ron Paul! (1+ / 0-)

How else to get the Democrats to talk about Iraq?

Rudy or Romney.  Both are easy targets.

Huck scares me, but he would shoot himself in the foot during the long home stretch, and independents wouldn't touch him I suspect.

McCain is the GOP's best shot for '08 because of his reputation (undeserved lately) as a Maverick.  His "I put country before party" is a reminder of that. They would be seriously moronic not to get behind him.

Obama or Edwards could knock him out, but I think Hillary would lose.

I vote and I'm pissed off!

  •  Paul, by a mile (0+ / 0-)

Not only would it be very easy to reveal him to be the wackaloon that he is, but it would so horribly discredit the Rethug party that it would all but guarantee a major nuke-and-rebuild.

  •  this is a qood question... (0+ / 0-)

...McCain seems most obvious to me, at least in terms of his appeal to the critically important independents. However, Rommey, with his immitation of Reagan as an erudite Washington outsider and massive quantities of money to spend also seems scary enough to be able to purchase his way into office.

My impression is that McCain might be the hardest Republican for the Democratic nominee to beat (assuming the Democratic nominee will be Hillary, Barack or John Edwards).

Huckabee seems, to be, to be the one we might most want to represent the Grand Old Prostitutes this November, followed by Giuliani.

  •  I say they should just dig up Reagan (1+ / 0-)

this loon will really make the rethugs look bad. nothing would be better than his being nominated. it will set the rethugs back 30 years.
