Feeding the giraffes w/photos

This diary is just for fun.
I figure we all could use a break from the primary wars and countless candidate diaries, so follow me below for more...

Many of us don't come to dailykos for just politics, we come to this site because it's the best damn on-line community around!
Of course lately there has been a lot of bickering and some down-right nastiness going on, so this diary is your chance to decompress and have a little fun and temporarily forget all about the primaries and which candidate is your favourite.

I thought I'd share some photos taken at a local zoo a few years ago of the giraffes....they're such beautiful gentle animals, and these photos never fail to put a smile on my face, so I hope they will do the same for you.  :-)

      Waco, Texas has a little known Zoo.  One of its big attractions is a walkway like that.  Perhaps it was modeled after that one.

        The National Zoo in DC, near me, has some wonderful exhibits, but also has some animals that really need more room than they've got, imo.  INcluding the giraffes.  Looks like Battle Creek has done a better job for them.

    with its head tucked down between its shoulders that way.  

    And the Bald eagle. They're not only thrilling to see because they're, well, eagles, but because you know what you're seeing.  A lot of birds can confuse you, expecially at a distance, but a bald eagle?  With that amazing white head and white tail and that wingspan -- there's nothing else it could be.

  visited the Baltimore Zoo several years ago.  They had one giraffe who was the last of his kind.  He was from a subspecies that will go extinct when he dies.  He looked so lonely.  Sad...
