Message to Republicans in Office: You are all in BIG trouble.

This is a short diary, but in all the intra-candidate infighting on Daily Kos, this is probably worth a diary:

The turnout numbers in all the states where actual contests have been held so far by both parties, say the Republicans are in big trouble.

Here is what this says to me:

1.  If Bush's policies stay the same and Republicans continue to cowtow to him, if things stay the same through the November election, they can expect to be annihilated, even in nominally safe Republican districts.

2.  If the turnout numbers stay the same, and the mood of the electorate stays the same, there is a very real possibility of a Democratic blowout in November.  A veto-proof majority in the House and the Senate is a real possibility, no matter who the President is.

3.  Any of the Democratic candidates is electable, merely in terms of party identification.

4.  Even for states where the Republicans manage to increase turnout, it won't be enough.  The Blue Tide is coming!

    It's really just as simple as that.

    The "new Voters" are coming out to support Obama.

    And the outside-the-party Machine the Clinton's have built has too much to lose if the Clinton's don't get it.

  have pretty much destroyed any credibility the republican party may have had. He has done more damage to the republican party than any democrat ever could. He's the gift that keeps on giving.

•  Yes, I think so, too.

  The one thing that has begun to worry me is Bill Clinton's emergence. He brings baggage that Hillary doesn't need and was beginning to leave behind.  He increases Hillary's negative talking points exponentially, IMHO.

  I do not think that Billary will lose the Dems the White House, but I do think that they could shorten the coattails and decrease the margin of victory.

  •  Well, in terms of an even broader point:

    For the capitulating Democrats in Congress .. the people are speaking.  They've had it with Republicans and Republicanism.

    There is, seemingly, little to be gained, at least in terms of votes, for coopting Republican positions on bills.

    That, too, can "decrease the margin of victory".

    •  Indeed, yes. Sans doute.

      The behavior of the Craven Caucus is one ray of hope for the R's.  During the election they will cite all the Dem cave-ins as proof of pusillanimity.  That charge will be hard to refute since they're right.  

      I can't recall when I've seen a majority with a mandate more dedicated to its own destruction.

•  it is about time to pay attention and bash repubs

  I don't read candidate diaries.  It is soooo self destructive to be bashing our own Dem candidates when it is the Republican thugs that need to be taken down.
  I think that each of our Dem candidates have really good qualities that would make them good Presidents so why try to make them look awful to the Independent and Republican voters who are trying to find another path besides the Republican path to misery and destruction.

    I agree that there's a lot of it.  Some of it is necessary criticism.

    But in the end, I take the turnout numbers as a positive sign that more people agree it's important to take the Republicans out in November, whatever our feelings as to the candidates themselves.
