I am giving 250$ to Obama tonight, who else will step forward?

My guess is that this is a very important time for the campaign as we shift from retail to wholesale. I know Obama has  organized well in many states, but Obama is a retail politician, Hillary has been sold as inevitable for way over a year, and she has universal name recognition. Clinton is a resume, Obama a persona. In order to close the sale at this stage will take ads. Now, I have heard that neither campaign has the money to really do the traditional ad blitzes, but We can change that.

I am a political newbie who got involved due to Howard Dean. I attended my first meet-up in May '03 and attended Howard's official announcement in Burlington VT. I gave almost the limit for the primaries, a little bit at a time, often riding the bat. I went to every rally I could, I canvassed, I phone banked, I worked the polls. Suffice it to say, I rode a rocket straight up and then straight down into the snows of Iowa. I was totally disillusioned, especially by the discovery that the elites in the Democratic party were no more interested in democracy that were the Republicans. That's what I cared about most, you see, was the whole restoring democracy thing. But the elites in the MSM, the GOP, and the Dems came together to take Dean down. One second we were like a powerful water buffalo thundering across the grass, the next we were overtaken and swarmed by an army of ants...and in the  blink of an eye our cleanly stripped bones clattered to the ground.

I was very badly burned and my cynicism returned. The next year was bad, the only bright spots being Dean's win in VT, followed by his win of the chairmanship.

I acquired my intense dislike of Hillary during the campaign  because of the whisperings that the Clinton's were working against us behind the scenes. I will never believe otherwise after seeing Hillary and Chelsie grinning like a pair of Cheshire cats while they clicked their glasses together - at the exact moment Howard mentioned his "Failed presidential bid" during his speech at the 2004 convention. As a consequence, I did look for a candidate to back that could take her down, with an emphasis on being as least a smart as me during the run up to the war.

I was originally for Gore, but then the game was on and he stayed on the sidelines, so I gravitated to Obama. I had seen his speech at the convention too, and was struck like many with the thought "This guy is going to be our first black president".

Over time I have been more and more impressed, but I have never gotten as involved as I did with Dean. I have given a little money, 25$ to 50$ a month...nothing last month. I live in NH, so I have seen him 4 times, shaken his hand and have even asked him a question. I have talked to friends and family, and supported him here... and of course I voted for him! But like Thomas I had to stick my fingers in his side to believe, I needed the evidence.

Well, Barack and the people of SC have provided it. Obama now has the momentum and a very strong wind at his back after Teddy passed him the torch today. Obama has proven his mettle and has done about all he can to do to win this thing, now it's up to us.

So, today I went to the bank and withdrew 250$ from the 850$ in my savings account and transfered it to checking, so I can give it to Obama tonight. If we all step forward and give what we can, we can provide the resources the campaign needs for advertising. We need to do so right away though, so they can  get those ads on the air.

Who will join me in giving all they can tonight?

Howard said we have the power, lets make it a reality!
