This morning Gary sent out a message to our supporters urging them to vote for him in the DFA Grassroots All Star contest. I’ve included it in its entirety below the fold.
Gary’s DFA-Link profile shows why he deserves to be our next Congressman. Gary has taken bold stances on the economy, healthcare, and the war.
I can’t even imagine how George Bush is going to try and spin the "State of the Union" in tonight’s speech. Reality is there are 47 million Americans without healthcare, a war with no end in sight, and an economy that has been especially unfair to workers here in Michigan.

Gary Peters supports universal health care for all Americans, wants to support our troops by bringing them home now, and will fight to make sure all nations follow international trade rules. Gary has proven to be an effective legislator, having more bills signed into law than any other Democratic Senator during his time in the legislature.
When it comes to being fiscally responsible, Gary was effective for both his constituents and students in Michigan. While at the State Lottery, he delivered record profits for public education while staying $13 million under budget. As a State Senator he returned an entire years worth of office operating expenses to the treasury over eight years.
Gary received a Legislative Advocacy Award from MARAL in recognition of his support for women’s reproductive rights. He was the Sierra Club’s Environmentalist of the Year after working to ban drilling for oil in the Great Lakes. This campaign he has already received the endorsement of Triangle and the SEIU- champions of progressive values.

Two weeks ago, I asked you to help me work towards change in our nation by voting for me in the DFA Grassroots All-Star contest. Thanks to your votes, I’m now sitting in fourth place with the deadline for votes in Round One coming up fast. Democracy for America has extended the first round of competition until Wednesday at midnight.
If I can make it into the top three by Wednesday at midnight, then I’ll be in contention for a lot of assistance from DFA. They’ll help me raise crucial funds so I can spread my message across Oakland County, and they’ll bring their experienced staff to Michigan to conduct a training session for our volunteers and staff.
That’s why I need your help again. Because of your help I’m only a few votes away from moving into the top three! I need you to vote, and then forward this message on to your friends and ask them to vote for me as well.
