This is about showing some class as well as honoring a valiant, great fellow competitor.  This is not always about making the campaign all about ME, ME, ME. Making ME feel important, and special.  This is about the party too.  And about a great man and his family who are suffering today, as are his supporters.

Re John Edwards:  I will miss John Edwards in this campaign very much. He has been, constantly, my strong second choice.  He has been highly influential in the campaigns and debates, in steering conversation to people ordinarily forgotten by politicians.

I wish him and his family nothing but the very best.

        •  Obama's statement was really classy

          His website may not have it up yet, and maybe they should put it up, but he gave a really classy tribute to John earlier this morning. Hillary made a nice statement too, but hers was a little bit more focused on her, more of an outright pitch to Edwards' supporters. Obama simply paid tribute to Edwards' work on behalf of the disadvantaged and what he contributed to the campaign, without mentioning himself. I thought that was classier, and more important than what it says on their websites. Plus, the thing on Clinton's site is just an image...it doesn't link to anything further on Edwards.

            I have found SusanHu's diaries of late to be skating awfully close to the line of trollery, but I'm willing to assume the intensity of her advocacy for HRC has simply gotten to the point where she doesn't see how much some of her tactics and style are turning reasonable people away from her preferred candidate.  She's not the only member of this community whose passion for their candidate has led them to post distempered things, but she's become one of the most grating.  

            In the case of this particular diary, I would not go beyond opting for a "tacky" button, but I don't know what such a button should do, in practical terms.

                So far, it is posted here, MyDD, and Noquarter.  She is not staying to participate in any kind of discussion or to support her thinking.  It's clearly a hit and run diary with no other purpose than to introduce a negative idea that is completely without merit.  

                I am not interested in debating the candidates at the moment- I haven't chose yet.  I am interested in what my role is in the function of a group website.  This diary is not an honest attempt at anything.

          It actually makes a better case in point for why a JRE supporter should move into the Obama camp than any pro-Obama diary ever could.

          I would just ask that every reader also read the diarists other greatest hits.

          As far as I'm concerned -- I've rec'ed this diary and I think any smart Obama supporters should do the same.

          Edwards supporters aren't idiots -- and I can see only two ways a Edwards' supporter takes this diary:

          1)Ignores it for the foolishness that it is

          2)gets disgusted by the shameless BS it pushes.

          There literally is no downside from the pro-Obama perspective to see this get a wider audience.
