Attorney General Rudy Giuliani?

We only thought that a wooden stake was driven through the heart of Rudy the Impaler's political ambition.

Now we have yet another reason, as if any more were needed, why a McCain Administration would be an unmitigated disaster -- Rudy Giuliani in the Cabinetas attorney general or secretary of homeland security.

"He drops out, endorses McCain, McCain becomes the president, Rudy could be a cabinet appointee; he could be homeland security chief, he could be attorney general," said Douglas Muzzio, a political science professor at Baruch College. "His electoral life is over, but not necessarily his political life."

Makes sense to me.

McCain and Giuliani are buddies.

Both of them want to bomb the living crap out of the Middle East.

And just imagine if Rudy Giuliani suddenly had control of the Justice Department and the FBI. Where would be build the first concentration camp?

      he's the kind of conservative that belongs on the Court.

      And B. neither one of those two had anything for Democrats to latch onto other than "I disagree with his judicial philosophy." Rudy has a history of piss-poor judgment and absurd, demeaning behavior.

          if you mean "agree with him", then no, not especially. But I think he's about as smart a lawyer and judge that you're going to find, I think he has the right temperament for a justice, and I like his general preference for narrow rulings. I think he's a good conservative justice; one I can disagree with without feeling real antipathy for.

          I wrote a diary in praise of her on the issue of torture....

          But I always seem to find stuff like this:

          At last night's debate, after Obama responded to a "ticking time bomb" question by saying that torture is never acceptable, Clinton seemed to say the same thing. The only problem: As we noted earlier, less than a year ago, she told the Daily News that torture was usually wrong but sometimes acceptable in extreme situations. Now, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson has offered an explanation of sorts for the shift: "Upon reflection and after meeting with former generals and others, Senator Clinton does not believe that we should be making narrow exceptions to this policy based on hypotheticals."

          Not to be cynical, but it's always worth reading such statements carefully. In this case, what does "based on hypotheticals" mean? What if it was based on a real situation that actually came before her as president? Has she really committed to never doing it, or just to not talking about doing it in advance based on hypotheticals?    

          Nope, this is my one and only foray into politics; if it doesn't work, I'm retiring....and will let all the realists continue to screw up the world.
