    •  I think there's a lot to that...

      Genuine independents wanted to maximize the marginal value of their vote, and the Republican side seemed to be the place.

      There was a comment on Matthew Yglesias's blog that resonated with me as well--I think he was block-quoting someone who said that it's not like Iowa is the norm and NH is the anomaly...format-wise, Iowa is the anomaly because of the caucuses.  It's possible that at the margins, a more conventional appeal like Clinton's is more effective in a more conventional setting like the primaries.

  I'm a JRE supporter, and in my defense, I believe I've never been "obnoxious." But relatedly, the "Obamagloating" has made me rethink HRC, for my second choice. Her supporters have been consistently focussed on supporting her, and not on inter-blog warfare around here. That speaks well enough about her, that I will keep an open mind about her candidacy. As a matter of fact, I think that the best way to regain some objectivity about BOTH of John's opponents is to back off my time here for a while.
