One of the primary drivers moving McCain's numbers southward is the continuing implosion of Sarah Palin juxtaposed alongside the increasingly serious economic mess (and scandal). With early voting starting very soon in many states, it's looking more likely that this Thursday's debate will be America's most meaningful measure of the Alaska Governor.
For this reason, we must recognize this "debate" not for what it is, but what it should be: the examination of Sarah Palin. Joe Biden is a known quantity; Sarah Palin is not. Fair or not, America needs to take measure of this would be VP (or President) in very short order.
What we do know is that Palin has been preparing hard for Thursday night's debate. She does reasonably well when she can recant rehearsed memes or the kind of perfunctory catch-phrases that oversimplify complex issues..you know...the kind that please many GOP voters. Because Gwen Ifill is a professional journalist from a respected news outlet, I am hopeful that she will adjust the mix of questions to accommodate for the contrived sham that Palin is preparing to deliver.
Knowing little about Palin, but much about quixotic idealogues, I'd like to see Ifill explore the many irreconcilable philosophies of the far right.
I'm writing this diary today to solicit everyone's ideas for questions and/or lines of questioning that would be appropriate to assay the cognitive skills of the VP candidate.
I'll throw out a few I'd like to hear Palin answer, then turn it over to you guys in the comments.
(1) Do you support the practice of in-vitro fertilization?
(2) In a country as rich as the US, how do you explain such high poverty rates?
(3) Do you believe health care is a right or a privilege?
(4) Do you support the Bush Doctrine?
(5) How do you explain the rise of Islamic terrorism?
(6) Do you think it is ever appropriate to suspend the US Constitution or the Geneva Conventions in order preserve national security?
(7) Is homosexuality learned or innate?
What else?
