That's what he told the Des Moines Register's editorial board today. In the video labeled "Sarah Palin's Experience" on the DMR website, McCain defends his running mate by contrasting her favorably with FDR:

Forget those 30 fireside chats--you can't look someone in the eye on the radio! And so what if he did 998 presidential press conferences, more than any other president--those DC media elites are a bunch of sissies! And who wants to read through 25 volumes of press conference transcripts anyway?
