A longtime friend of mine, a professor who deals a lot with media matters, reports that a media-analyst contact in NYC told him (yes, I know, this is all hearsay) to watch out for Sarah Palin's hairstyle at tomorrow's debate. And it's not because Tina Fey is watching closely about how to follow Sarah's hair trends (though I'm sure she will).
According to the contact, the McCain campaign is not exactly confident of Palin to get through the debate without committing a major gaffe or gaffes. Since Palin helpfully has long hair, the contact says, rumor has it that an earpiece is being strongly considered so aides can help keep her on message when answering tough -- all -- questions.
So, rumor has it, if Palin wears her hair down and over her ears, a little gizmo may be hidden under there.
Personally, I don't believe it...I think such a device would just confuse her further, and besides, we all saw what happened to Bush during that first 2004 debate, when he was supposedly wearing a wire.
Just thought I'd put that out there...at the very least it adds a little extra suspense for tomorrow night -- how will Sarah wear her hair?
FYI: For the Couric interview Palin wore her hair down but behind her ears.
