Joe has held up his end of the deal. Obama's got to close it..
We're 4 weeks + 1 weekend away from Nov 4. In baseball terms, it's like heading into the 7th inning stretch.
We've got a 5 run lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning. It would be hard to blow it, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Our Ace has been getting stronger in the middle innings, and he's showing real signs of dominance on the mound. His youth is serving him well here. The more experienced opponent is obviously tiring, and he can't find the plate. His lack of control and errors have helped us gain this lead, but we've also had some timely hitting. Our team is well disciplined. Nobody's swinging for the fences. We're great at playing small ball, and we're very sound fundamentally. Because of those strengths in fundamentals and discipline, it's very unlikely that we'll commit a string of game changing errors.
The other team hasn't had a hit since the early innings. They're looking really fatigued at this point, and their desperation is pushing them to make mistake after mistake. Even when we've issued them a walk, we've thrown them out trying to steal, and our outfielders have nailed them a couple of times trying to stretch singles into doubles. They're just not very well managed.
Winning this thing is simple. We just have to keep doing the things that brought us here.
