Just a short blurb on early voting updates here in Ohio, or as they are calling in "In person absentee voting."
In person absentee? Sounds contradictory to me, but whatever.
Ohio has same day voter registration and voting until 10/6, which is also the last day of voter registration.
Early voting (In person absentee) will continue right up Nov. 3rd.
I voted today at the Franklin County early voting location here in Columbus, Veteran's Memorial Coliseum (M-F 8-7 p.m.; Sat 8-5; Sun 1-5).
When I arrived there were perhaps 50 people in line in front of me and around 20 people voting at any given time. It took about 20 minutes to get my ballot. While I was waiting, I asked how busy they had been, estimates were a bit shy of 1,000/day with today seeming to be the busiest day so far. No week-end days yet.
If it keeps up, that would be approximately 35,000 early votes in Franklin County alone. I hope the numbers keep going up and up.
It seemed a very pro-Obama crowd both demographically and from conversation.
Help Ohio go blue. (Those are words not heard together often around these parts).
EDIT: Updates from other states or counties welcome in the comments.
