How to describe the current McCain/Palin campaign for the Presidency?
Firedoglake reports that McCain himself is pretty much missing in action these days:
McCain's current campaign schedule, according to his own website, shows a string of rallies featuring VP nominee Sarah Palin... but zero scheduled appearances for the guy at the top of the ticket (aside from the two upcoming televised debates).
As for Palin, she's following up her amazing performance at the debate by not doing any TV:
This won't shock you all that much, but Sarah Palin will not be on any of the Sunday shows this weekend.
A source forwards me the Obama campaign TV booker's internal line-up of Sunday show guests, which gets sent out to select political and media insider types. No Palin on it.
Maybe they're relying on their TV ads to sell the McCain/Palin ticket and their "new ideas" that I've heard Palin talk about. Well, no, that certainly isn't it:
The McCain campaign has now shifted virtually 100 percent of his national ad spending into negative ads attacking Obama, a detailed breakdown of his ad buys reveals.
By contrast, the Obama campaign is devoting less than half of his spending on ads attacking McCain. More than half of its spending is going to a spot that doesn't once mention his foe.
But don't go looking for those TV ads anywhere in Michigan:
McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida.
Nate Silver at Fivethirtyeight.com gives Obama a 62% chance of winning Ohio, a 70% chance of winning Florida, and a 92% chance of winning Wisconsin.
So how would you describe the McCain/Palin '08 campaign in October?
UPDATE: The first choice in the poll was supposed to read Not All "In Your Face."
