Apologies if this has already been diaried and enormous thanks to Josh for the link - I am reading this riveting article Make-Believe Maverick: A closer look at the life and career of John McCain reveals a disturbing record of recklessness and dishonesty about McCain and I am wondering where the conversation about it is here at DK. I am also hoping against hope that every undecided reader in America reads it.
Growing up in Arizona, no one in my admittedly quite left-of-center family ever liked McCain. We all thought he was a conservative with a flair for media self-aggrandizement. As an adult outside of Arizona, I’ve been a little shocked over the years by the admiration so many have for him.
Tom Dickinson, with lots of information I had no idea about but capturing the spirit of the Senator in a way that is absolutely consistent with my long-held thoughts about him—the embarrassment to my home state that he is—seems to have nailed it.
I assume that Faux News and the right wing commentariat will pulverize Mr. Dickinson but I really hope that this article gets traction.
I could block quote after block quote from the article, but the title really lets you know where this article is heading and every word of it is a must-read, so I invite you to check it out for yourself.
Update: turns out this article has generated and continues to generate more than a few diaries - including those of elchip, pattisigh, and deoliver47.
We just have to keep talking about this one non-stop and forwarding to everyone we know.
