Most people are of course paying attention to Palin's misquote of former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright that "there is a special place in Hell for woman who don't support other woman". But I think equally as damming is her remark that "those of us who consider ourselves progressive, yet are conservative too...". WTF!
I don't expect every politician to be an expert on every subject. That's too much but don't you think the potential leader of the free world should know the difference between conservative and progressive? I mean this is a person who is one heart beat away from appointing supreme court justices.
Yes the quote on woman is a big one. But I am as you read this emailing conservative pundits asking them this very question "if John McCain passed would you trust a self described progressive yet conservative to appoint the next supreme court vacancy"?
For those of you who doubt the seriousness of what she said look at what happened when John Kerry in 2004 tried to say because of his toughness on balancing the budget he was conservative too! Dick Cheney had a field day. All he had to do was say John Kerry claimed he was a conservative too (of course leaving off the first part of the sentence), and John Kerry started looking like a flip-flopper and his poll numbers continued to nose dive. The narrative on Palin is that she is over her head, and doesn't understand the issues. This reinforces that narrative.
