Far be it from me to give the Obama Campaign Machine advice, as they've been shrewd, successful and on the mark, but I would hope that in the upcoming debates Obama would throw this idiots words back at home regarding jobs and the American future.
Why? Because America elects optimists as presidents (See Reagan, Ronald Wilson). And McSame is just a grouchy loser.
The quote I referenced came from McCain during the primary when he was campaigning in Michigan. He was telling Autoworkers that the jobs that were gone were gone forever.
I hope Obama throws this back at him in the townhall debates, and says something along the following.
"Now, I know you think that's the kind of thing a maverick would say, but I flatly reject that kind of pessimisstic think, and I think the American people want a president who's not a defeatist, not one who will run up a white flag of surrender to the economic currents that have hurt this country in recent years. They want someone in the White House who's going to fight to turn things around, someone who will stand by and watch as their children and grandchildren move into a future that is less prosperous than the America they grew up in. I will not stand by and watch the American Dream vanish before our eyes. We will take steps to reclaim the economic glory squandered by eight years of George W. Bush."
THAT will close the sale across this land.
And while he's at it, I would bring up the fact that earlier this year he promised to run a "respectful" campaign, and went back on that promise merely because Obama didn't want to campaign the way that McSame wanted him to (the summer town hall meetings). That needs to be addressed repeatedly as McCain hammers Obama to drive his favorable numbers down.
And those favorables will undoubtedly drop in the last month. I'm mentally ready for it. And while I think Obama will prevail I believe that McSame will narrow it and probably reclaim Missouri and possibly Indiana.
