I am always stunned by the idiocy of the Republicans, but one myth that is so obviously false, and has been repeated from Reagan to McCain is this story of tax-cuts for the wealthy "creating jobs".
It seems so blatantly false.
What do more wealthy people do with their money? Do they spend it? No.
I'll give you a hint.
That's right, the rich guys just want to get richer. They want a big sloshing vault like Scrooge McDuck and they want that vault to get more and more full and pass that vault on to their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ad infinitum.
There is no trickle down! If we want that money to go anywhere besides the vault, we have to give it to the people who will spend it.
The opportunity to make wealth drives capitalism. It allows the young, smart people to sell life changing inventions, make money, build more of them and change more lives.
If each wealthy person holds the wealth of 10,000 individuals locked away, that means that any useful invention has 1/10,000th the chance of being discovered and advanced. This is the economics of stagnation and failure. We can see it in these failed "monetary" inventions our economy is now producing in place of anything truly useful.
I will never understand how Republicans can consider themselves the guardians of capitalism, when all their policies do is gut it in favor of greed.
