I'm kinda surprised at this late date that little play has been given to one of our biggest pickup opportunities this cycle.
Please Rec this, because I want to see this race get some play.
Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO) is one of the scummiest Republicans ever to grace the chamber. And she is in BIG trouble this time.
Want to know more about Betsy Markey, the woman who threatens to unseat one of the most fanatical anti-Choice Pro-Bush Republicans in the U.S.? Check this out!
Then follow me below for a brief summary and pitch for snapping up this piece of low-hanging fruit!
A teaser: Markey leads Musgrave by 7 points in the latest survey!
From The Field, where I was reminded of this race:
2008 appears to be Colorado’s year to go blue in a big way. Obama is poised to win the state, Senatorial candidate Mark Udall is up in his bid to defeat Republican Bob Schaffer. And over in CO-4, Democrat Betsy Markey has mounted an impressive campaign to take down conservative Republican Marilyn Musgrave. The first time I took a gander at this race, the Cook Political Report had it "leaning Republican." The first time I wrote about it in depth, they’d moved it to the toss-up category.
Recent polling data suggests that Markey’s momentum continues apace.
Musgrave now trails Markey by seven points, 50-43. Importantly, one of the only areas where Musgrave has been able to break the 50% barrier is her unfavorables: 51% of her constituents have an unfavorable view of her.
Now here's a good place to put a little of your hard-earned cash. Won't it feel good to forcibly help the toxic Musgrave rejoin the private sector, where she might actually have to look for a real job?
It gets even better. The recent polling states:
Markey had a huge lead in two voter groups that will be essential in deciding the election: independents and moderates. She led by 30 points among independent voters, 59 percent to 29 percent, and by 41 points among self-described moderates, 67 percent to 26 percent. Musgrave will have to close the gap in those two groups in order to have a chance at making the race competitive heading into Election Day.
As Kos would say: can we throw Marilyn Musgrave an anvil?
I've been giving pretty much all of my political contributions to Obama this year.
But I gave to Musgrave's last opponent, Angie Paccione, twice last cycle. She has since taken a position at a non-profit. But the Dems have another STRONG opponent for Musgrave, and this time she's going down hard.
For some reason I have this strange habit of sending money to Democrats in CO-4. So this time I'm in for another $25.
Who will match me?
Let's make it clear that any Pro-Bush Republican faces unemployment!
