I just called Senator John Kerry's office to ask Senator Kerry to step in and speak out against what John McCAin and Sarah Palin are doing to incite violence against Senator Obama. These tactics are getting out of hand. We have no idea where they will lead, but it looks like things could get vert bad, very ugly, very dangerous, very fast.
It's not just what they're saying, but how they're saying it, and who they're saying it to. This is scaring the hell of of me, and I don't scare easily.
I tried calling the DNC at first, thinking that they'd be the best positioned appeal to the McCain campaign's better judgement. But the DNC didn't pick up the phone.
I want the DNC and/or Senator Kerry to call on John McCain to do some soul searching and to rethink these politics. McCain also needs to denounce any portrayal of Obama as a terrorist sympathizer. We, including McCain, know these accusations are ridiculous, but nonetheless dangerous. McCain had renounced them earlier, whenever Senator Clinton launched them. But her followers are not the same kind of crazies that McCain and Palin's are. He needs to understand this. It is a totally different dynamic at work here, a real powderkeg.
I had a run in with a McCain/Palin supporter yesterday on these issues, and he (ex-military) is convinced that Obama is a domestic enemy that he, as a former Marine, is sworn to protect America against. Who knows how far someone like him would take something like this?
McCain has to take a stand, right here, right now to knock this shit off before more people start getting hurt.
Please, call Senator Kerry 617-227-1460 and others to send them a signal. We won't stand for this Political violence is NOT acceptable, and John McCain and Sarah Palin must stop inciting it.
Come on people, we can do this. Let's get to work. I'm trying to think about who to call next.
