Ever have the internal struggle to remain neutral above all your liberal leanings and hatred for the GOP, republican, conservative party and/or ideology? I fight with myself everyday over this but I am aware that everyone has their biases and it is not possible, theoretically, to be unbiased. Mainstream media has their flaws in America, but in an attempt to be non-partisan conveyor of facts and equal opinion, are they biased by being too unbiased?
I recently have had heated arguments with a close friend of mine about whether my political views are biased and too liberal to give any rational chance at any conservative argument. I had to level with him, and agree that I am biased, that my political views are liberal and I am a frequent visitor to The Huffington Post and that's where my beliefs reside. He had a look of disgust on his face assuming that I was another victim of the irrational Obama celebrity bus.
My friend is a good example of what I see in MSM outlets in America, in that they sometimes go out of their way to be unbiased. See, my friend is like MSM because he's afraid. Afraid to be labeled a left-wing nut, or a conservative ideologue. This is apparent on shows when they give equal representation to panelists who regurgitate the same talking points over and over show after show when there is a clear falsehood or spinning of the truth for one side or the other. Is it fair to give equal representation to both sides, albeit, irrational and against public opinion?
