Today, Health Care for America Now went up on the air around the country, spending $4.3 million to hit McCain and win quality, affordable health care for all in 2009.
More after the jump.
Seth Colter Walls via the Huffington Post:
The independent progressive group Heath Care For America Now! released a batch of eight ads targeting John McCain and seven incumbent House members Wednesday morning. Operating as a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization, the group is pouring $4.3 million into all the spots. While the congressional ads will air on targeted local stations, the McCain ad, entitled "Fighter," will get a $1 million push on national cable, in addition to airings in Ohio.
While HCAN is forbidden by law from coordinating with Democratic committees, the McCain ad happens to target precisely the same issue as Obama's latest spot -- specifically by raising doubts questions about McCain's plan to tax employer-based health care.
We're targeting 7 Congressional districts around the country, as well as targeting John McCain nationally. We've also got a new website up, WhichSideAreTheyOn.com, which compares the candidates' health care plans and records, making it clear who's on our side and who's not.
Here are the districts we're advertising in, with links to more information:
We're very proud of these ads, and we're confident they are going to make sure people know which side those running for office in these places are on. The conservative vision for health care would gut the current system and replace it with a "tax credit" that goes straight to the insurance industry. 20 million more Americans would lose their health care.
We can't let that happen.
