The headline for Washington Wire at the Wall Street Journal Cindy McCain Goes on Attack, Too. It's all about how she is now a spokeswoman for the McPalin campaign and engaging in her own malicious slanders against Obama.
The mother of four, including two sons in the military, challenged Democrat Barack Obama to "change shoes" for a day. "The day that Sen. Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body," she said
McCain’s charge is based on a single vote Obama cast as a senator. Factcheck.org called the claim "misleading" based on the fact that Obama voted in favor of troop funding on 10 different occasions. The only time he voted against it was a vote in which President Bush vetoed a version that included a date for withdrawal.
Earlier this year Cindy McCain refused to release her tax returns because, "It's a privacy issue. My husband is the candidate." Here's the May 2008 video from TPM:
Well, times have changed. Cindy is still not the candidate but she is now a major spokeswoman for the candidate, and funds the lifestyle to which he's become accustomed.
So it's time for her to release the full returns -- and not just a couple pages from 2006 -- and let us see what it is she's hiding. She gave up her privacy stand when she took an active public role in the campaign beyond standing by her man.
