Al Franken winning would be amazing.
Al Franken defeating incumbent Norm Coleman, in Minnesota, would be an amazing accomplishment and is an absolute necessity if the Democrats are to reach 60 votes in the senate.
Life is so much better with 60 votes in the senate. We know that even 41 Republicans will stick together to block judges, legislation and anything else they want.
That is why I am so amazed at the lack of attention paid to this race. Maybe I am not looking in the right places, but I cannot see how this isn't a national race for senate. Ted Steven's race gets more attention than this race (admittedly Sarah Palin and Steven's trial have made Alaska a bigger story than ever before).
Why isn't every progressive talk radio host mentioning this race? Why aren't the cable networks following developments? Is Obama or Biden going to Minnesota to campaign for Franken? What about Hillary or Bill Clinton? What about Al Gore? Every Democrat heavyweight should be helping Franken.
So, I am interested in people's thoughts on whether this race is or is not adequately on-the-radar.
UPDATE: Al Franken's website has Al Gore speaking October 4, 2008 in his support. Great news.
