How dare you.
"The day that Sen. Obama cast a vote to not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body let me tell you," Cindy McCain said in introducing the GOP ticket. "I would suggest Sen. Obama change shoes with me for just one day. I suggest he take a day and go watch our men and women deploying."
Cindy, do you have cold chills through your body when your husband, who uses his "military experience" to rally his supporters, fails to show up to vote on veterans issues? Where is he when these votes are taking place?
Was it a cold chill through your botox laden, percocet stealing body that you felt when your husband voted AGAINST the GI Bill?
"Faced with unprecedented filibusters, the only way to ensure Senate passage of the GI Bill is to get 60 cosponsors. John McCain has refused. The same McCain who insists he supports our troops. The same McCain who is voting lockstep with the Bush administration (who have also resisted this bill). John McCain needs to do the right thing. We need him to sign now and signal to other Republican leaders that we should be strongly behind our vets.
The original GI Bill transformed American history, providing education for returning soldiers. Not only was this our nation's moral duty for the unbelievable sacrifices of our World War II veterans, it helped create America's middle class and spurred decades of economic growth for our country."
You should feel the cold chills that ran through my mothers body when my 20 year old brother was in Iraq. When she would hear that "another soldier from Ft. Carson was killed today...." When she would call me at 3am because my brother was able to contact her to let her know he was ok.
How about the cold chill through the whole family when his humvee was hit by a roadside bomb? Or when he came home and we realized that he wasn't the same person anymore? The cold chill when I realized that my 22 year old brother has actually KILLED people. And for what?
How about those chills now, Cindy, as we drive him to the closest VA hospital-4 HOURS AWAY-every other month for a brain scan? Those were some cold chills when his brain (for lack of a technical term) sloshed around his skull on impact of the bomb. Boy, that was a cold chill when we found out that he may need corrective BRAIN SURGERY to ensure that the base of his brain stem is properly aligned.
Cindy, take your cold chills and cram them. Wrap a sweater around yourself. And think about this:you, along with your husband, have no RIGHT to call out Obama on voting against anything. At least the man ("that one") showed up for 6 of 9 votes relating to veterans issues. Your veteran? 4 of 9. THOSE are numbers that are chilling, Cindy.
