Today's continued meltdown on Wall Street continues to focus the election debate. Simply put, there is no other issue now.
Yet McCain still tries to mud sling ridiculous charges. Palin continues to race bait.
These irrelevant issues can be not only diffused, but turned around. I'm not sure who started the political Ju-Jitsu discussion, but this is the time to illustrate it.
Obama can continue to show leadership, and own the middle and working class brand, but committing to talking almost exclusively about the economy.
Skyfox's Diary has the money quote from Bill Burton, to Fox News: "Hey, I'm guessing you guys don't want to talk about the economy huh?"
Damn right they don't.
SO the next time Ayers comes up, or Hussein, or any of their other harebrained attacks come up, prove that they don't get it, and that we do.
Talk about the economy. Bring out the experts, do a weeklong tour with Warren Buffet, whatever it takes.
One more thing: give full credit for the economic crisis to the deserving owners: John McCain's Republican Party. And use that exact phrasing.
We can still say: "It's the economy, stupid," because let's face it--it's the stupid who have been running the economy.
