The "human interest" stories have me laughing some days, while others have me in tears. In this day in the information age I click on the IE icon to start my daily look through the internet. IE leads me to my frivolous home page. I chose this homepage because it is nothing special and semi-neutral. Dolphin's knocking out tourists, cats saving owner from fire, the DOW dipped below 8000,and the usual headlines from the mainstream media type of page. The usual video clips to look at.
Mingled in with images of stock brokers holding their heads down in dejection, and latest smear headline, is the following.

I find it sort of sad that people need to report something as frivolous as this when what seems to me that, not only is the United States, but the world is slipping into insanity. Sarah Palin can not channel her 10th cousin FDR any more likely that I can channel my supposed ancestors of James Stuart, the assorted mix in the "cursed Scottish play", or Joseph of Aramathia. I pointed that out what I traced my family to on that website to show out how faulty that the source they are using is. Oh and by the way, I tried to walk on water when I found out and sunk quiet handedly.
Why do we need this when people and children are scared that they will not have a place to live, to eat, and if mommy and daddy are going to have a job. Mommy is crying because she is in pain and needs oral surgery but is putting off so daddy can meet with his cardiologist. Why do the mainstream media feel the need to report on this instead of going out and debunking the smears of the McCain campaign and pulling on their reporter hats and actually researching McCain's past actions. Why not report on the simmering class/race war that a campaign is trying to bring to a boil. This reminds me of a question asked commonly back home "who are your people". Like it matters who I am related to when I have no control of genetics and have about a chance in hell of meeting them.
Yes we need stories of hope during times of distress, but does this even fall into that category? Come on Mainstream media, wake up and start doing what you are suppose to do. Give valid facts, give facts pertaining to the issue. Start researching and reporting the truth about the smears, and call people out on the lies. Doing this will give us commoners/serfs the hope and lightness we need in this crazy time.
Here are a few things hidden in my local news that maybe the national media should be report instead.

FEMA to charge rent for Greensburg trailers
(they move their links around a lot see it while you can)

Eighteen months after the massive twister all but wiped out the Kansas town, FEMA sent a letter saying that residents still living in agency trailers would pay $667 per month in rent.
Resident Jackie Scheuerman said Thursday she plans on moving out of her FEMA trailer to avoid having to pay an "outrageous" amount for rent because she needs the money to finish rebuilding her home. Instead she and her family will live in their half-finished house.

I was asked why should the above should be of national intrest. Easy, look in your local paper, it is happening everywhere. The it isn't affecting me attitude is just what got us in this mess. FEMA trailers aren't in your state, I hope they never will be there. Your city bonds iffy, hope your kid doesn't attend a school that needs them. Your food pantry is not running out of food? Hope it doesn't if you end up needing it. These are just my local symtoms what are yours?
Pics of what Greensburg looked like after, you think 18 months was enough time to rebuild?
