"Mr. Obama goes to the gym like clockwork most mornings, works out for 45 minutes, and then is on his way."
When was the last time you saw THAT? Yeah, with George Bush, who, when he stole took office in 2000 was hailed far and wide as the "anti-Clinton." Clinton was passionate, sometimes unpredictable, obsessive; George Bush was the antidote: balanced, calm, centered, laid back.
Well, we’ve all seen how well THAT’s worked out.
Now comes the latest Obama puff piece from the New York Times, and it sounds eerily like the pre-9/11 hosannas lauded on George Bush while denigrating Clinton – you know, the Bill Clinton who presided over eight years of prosperity for Americans and left office with a stunning budget surplus (sorry Howard Dean... but hey, you managed to push him and his wife out of the party, so you won in the end, big guy).
"But Senator Barack Obama is a very different kind of candidate, judging by his performance at his own town-hall-style debate on Tuesday night and on the campaign trail. There are no volcanic explosions with Mr. Obama, rarely any finger-waving or lip-biting, and far less of the undisciplined campaigning that Mr. Clinton perfected." Says the Times piece.
"Mr. Obama goes to the gym like clockwork most mornings, works out for 45 minutes, and then is on his way, as he was in Nashville on Wednesday after the debate the night before. He did not skip the gym because he was too busy reading the coverage of the debate, or because he was too tired from staying up late replaying the debate in his head, advisors say. On Wednesday evening, he got home early to spend time with his two young daughters and take one of them to a bookstore in their neighborhood." Gushes the Times.
With the world financial system imploding from the rot and corruption of Wall Street criminals, and both McCain and Obama threatening Iran and promising to continue the bogus "War On Terror" in Afghanistan, maybe – as even the Times piece acknowledges - Americans are looking for a candidate that isn’t so removed and precious about his gym time.
We had that with Bush, and we see where that got us.
