Can't believe no one has diaried this yet!
On Morning Joe today, Chuck Todd, who usually seems pretty reasonable to me, made what seemed to me a remarkable statement:
I have had multiple very high level Democrats on the Hill sit there with their fingers crossed," Todd says. "They are scared of Franken winning. More importantly, they fear that if Franken wins, then every liberal Hollywood type is going to say, 'Hey, I can run for office, too.' And they are going to get a rush of these.
If that happens, Todd says, then we'll have Hollywood stars like Tim Robbins running!
Senator Tim Robbins? Congresswoman Scarlett Johansen? Damn! Sounds good to me. In fact, I'm going to now donate as much as I can to Al Franken (who's ahead in the latest polls by the way), just to get the "high-level Dems on the Hill" a chance to live out their worst nightmare.
By the way, I could only find this Variety post by way of other blogs noting Todd's insider news this AM.
PS. What's a good tag for gutless, treasonous Dems who would hope Norm Coleman returns to the Senate?
Update:
I have to say, I'm startled that many commenters are upset with Todd. Seems to me we should be pissed off at the Dems in questions (whomever they are) and not the messenger. Plenty of reasons to criticize "Chucky Cheese" but this case doesn't make sense to me.
Update 2:
Jonesy62 makes a good point(below) and convinces me that the aforementioned commenters are smarter than I, i.e. that Todd might indeed have a desire (personal or professional) to sow some conflict among Dems.
