Guerrilla warfare in Iraq erupted for two principal reasons:
-- Bremer dissolved the 325,000-man Iraqi Army and made these men unemployable with pervasive "de-Baathification" exclusions.
-- Saxby Chambliss's Military Extraterritoriality Jurisdiction Act kicked in, unleashing a merc reign of terror on Iraqi civilians
Bremer hides under a dirty rock.
This Saxby Chambliss is the liar/pissant who got himself elected to the Senate by attacking the patriotism of Vietnam veteran, triple-amputee Max Cleland.
Chambliss is a combo of military-Blackwater-private_army-criminal GOPerism. He embodies America's flirtation with fascism.
The 2008 Democrat running a single point behind incumbent Chambliss-the-Turd is Jim Martin.
Vietnam veteran, like Max.
Yeah, folks, send $$$$. Stop ONE (1) hard-core fascist. BTF:
An early and excellent consideration of Chambliss's 1999 bill-drafting -- done while he was still a Congressman:
The Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act: the continuing problem of criminal jurisdiction over civilians accompanying the armed forces abroad - problem solved?
Army Lawyer, December, 2000 by Glenn R. Schmitt
The problem of American civilians who commit crimes while accompanying the Armed Forces abroad has long plagued the United States government. America's federal criminal jurisdiction generally ends at the nation's borders, and so it is left to host nation countries to use their own laws to prosecute Americans who commit crimes while accompanying our armed forces. In many cases, however, these countries decline prosecution of crimes committed by American civilians, even very serious ones. This is especially true if the crime is committed only against another American or American property.(2) It seems that, in most instances, the host nation decides not to expend resources to prosecute crimes that do not affect any of its citizens. While the U.S. government often asserts some administrative sanction against the person committing the crime--such as barring them from American military installations--more often than not, the perpetrators receive no real punishment.
This piece lays out difficulties and legislative history for the 1999 Act.
what Chabliss did, in a nut shell, was to draft this Military Extraterritoriality Jurisdiction Act so the military has no jurisdiction over these merc's whatsoever.
Wonder how much Blackwater paid for that one ??? And under what table ?
Time to focus on eliminating the fascists, as well as helping the prettiest/funniest progressives. Chambliss is a threat to democracy.
