What is it the Republicans are so fond of saying about the effect of words - words have consequences? This morning I felt the consequences of the McCain/Palin racist rabble rousing of late, and I'm wondering how many of you have too.
For weeks now I've had several yard signs in front of the house: Hank Eng (CO-06), Mark Udall (CO-Sen), and Mollie Cullom (CO House District 39). About ten days ago I finally got my official Obama yard sign and put it up, but prior to that I had been displaying a sign I had made at Kinko's, from a photograph I took during Barack's acceptance speech at Invesco Field. Once I got the Obama sign from the campaign, I stopped displaying my homemade one.
Last night someone stole my Obama sign. They left the other three.
I find the timing of this, and the fact that the signs representing white candidates were left alone, very curious indeed. Maybe I'm just pissed off right now and overreacting, but I really feel this was racially motivated and at least in part a reaction to the hate mongering that's been coming from the McCain campaign lately.
My homemade sign went back up, by the way, as soon as I discovered that the other one was gone. I'm going to keep a close watch on it, and will probably be bringing it in at night.
Who else has experienced something like this in DailyKos land?
