Why are African Americans staying with the Democratic Party which shows them as much contempt as the Republican party.
The lastest atrocity happened in Louisiana
The youngest generation of African Americans do not feel the same affinity for the Democratic Party as the older generation who were personally effected by the change of civil rights. So what keeps them in the Democratic Party? Especially, now that the DLC and some members of the DNC feel compelled to dump overboard the core values of the Democratic Party.
The Greens, who don't stand to win anything except the respect and admiration of all decent people, raised nearly $150,000 in only four days to challenge George Bush's unofficial 136,000 vote margin in each of Ohio's poll precincts. Kerry had the same option and plenty of cash on hand ($15 million in unspent campaign funds), but took the Skull and Bones path, fearing a contested outcome might damage the legitimacy of a system that he values just as dearly as his erstwhile opponent, George Bush - Black voters be damned. There is no law against making a concession speech and getting a recount, but oligarchs like Kerry treasure stability above all else - it keeps them on top.
I am getting a feeling that it is not the Republican party that will peel away African American Democrats but the Green Party who has taken the lead on protecting the Black voter rights. If I were a Green and I am really thinking about after Kerry's graceful cowardice, I would develop a better dialogue with the African American community and incorporate environmental racism in their platform (if they don't have it already). The rest of their platform is basic Democratic values which the Democrat are refusing to stand up for.
