A John McCain presidency at this time would be an unrecoverable blow He is much worse than Bush on many levels
- At least Bush knew the Vietnam War was a farce. He was going to be damned if he ended up there. McCain wants all of us who lost childhood friends and family members to that awful war to have collective amnesia about the time and circumstances of the place. He is a hero because he was caught bombing civilian targets from high up in the air? I'm glad the asshole got shot down.
The real heroes of that time were the grunts stumbling around in the jungle fighting off the Viet Cong while watching their fellow soldier friends get blown to bits in front of their eyes. They put in hundreds of hours picking leeches off their skin, sleeping in the wet and obtaining horrible memories that would haunt them for years. They were close up fighting hand to hand, not 20,000 feet above it all dropping deadly devices on people with no uniforms. It is a testament to the North Vietnamese people that they didn't hack him into little pieces. He was an instrument of death. He wasn't liberating anyone.
- Both Bush and McCain are serial liars. McCain has lied about more topics and even involved Mother Teresa, openly lied in church on television, lied about the safety of Iraq, and about the Confederate Flag just to name a few.
- Bush when he had alcohol problems quit drinking. McCain has taken his wild days and tried to make it part of his false daring persona. He proudly remembers his time dating a hooker and his days of wild drinking and wears them as badges of honor.
- Bush is plainly stupid &misguided. McCain is clearly suffering from the beginnings of dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Did you see him recently on television babbling like a nursing home resident about the fishes who loved the oil rigs? Did you hear him say : "My fellow prisoners..."
- At least the despicable Bush made his jokes about war at a private press correspondence dinner. McCain did his bomb, bomb Iran "joke" in public.
- McCain is a public racist. His voting against the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday in 1983 was done in full public view. His support of his governor friend in rescinding the holiday in 1987 a full four years later was also part of the public record. At least Bush hides his racist views.
- McCain was one of the biggest advocates for the insurance companies efforts to fight against mental health care parity starting in with his 1996 vote against the first bill on this issue that passed Congress. Bush actually ended up supporting mental health parity and set up a commission to take on the issue in 2002 while McCain kept up his fight to defeat all efforts at changing this discriminatory practice and carried the water for the insurance companies.
- Bush made a marriage work somehow. McCain acted in the most dishonorable way with his first wife, dumping her for the daughter of a prominent millionaire. This from the "family values" party.
- Bush picked Cheney for vice president. At the time, Cheney was a well-known moderate voice with multiple years of experience in all types of important issues. He later went crazy, and became a nightmare that is true. But Simple Sarah Palin is already a nightmare. McCain picked her knowing full well that she has no right, skill or experience to run this entire country if he fell over dead.
- McCain's temper is legendary. He has told numerous people to f-- off and in public. There are reports of him getting so pissed that he called his wife a c--t in public. It was reported that he got so mad at the POW/MIA people in a public hearing that he actually pushed a woman in a wheelchair. He almost blew a cork at a casino recently. Bush gets angry and says entertainingly ridiculous things.
- Both men were pilots. McCain crashed four aircraft in his time as a pilot. He is reported to have been abusive toward support persons and was disliked by the mechanics that tried to keep the planes he did get back to base flying. It has been reported that he damaged planes with hard landings multiple times and kept them busy making repairs. There are no similar reports about Bush and no crashes on his record.
- McCain is a much more effective con man than Bush. The Straight Talk Express myth is sinisterly brilliant and totally false. But with the help of the media until just recently he was able to say things regularly that were not supported by facts, votes or previous statements that were publicly available. His maverick image has been repeated until believed by most even though his voting record shows pretty much a party loyalist.
In short, when they say a third Bush term, it is false fear. A McCain presidency would be four years of pure terror and much, much worse than Bush which is hard to believe.
