I am, as previously stated in my last diary entry, married. Yes, me, in what has been called a traditional marriage (one man, one woman?). And I have something to say about gay marriage.
I don't feel the slightest bit threatened by it. Like, at all. I have three kids and I don't feel that they are threatened in any way either.
I mean, what do people think is going to happen? I don't remember a huge crater in traditional (whatever the hell that means) marriages when same sex marriage was declared legal in Massachusetts (and it's been more than four years).
I'm in California for the weekend, and I've seen political adds both for and against Prop 8. I won't be voting in California this year, but what the hell is this 'protect our family, protect our children' shit?
NOTE: I don't have very many friends or relatives who are either gay or lesbian, so this isn't really personal for me, just practical.
I have one question for those who are against same sex marriage:
How, exactly, are your children and marriages threatened by legalizing same sex marriage?
