I was wandering around on Jedreport and I came across this gem. I must admit that our side has some become refreshingly aggressive. Gibbs, Burton, and now Melber are all turning out impressive performances. I am so proud of our surrogates!
What I find most compelling about this interview is how Melber sets the trap for Freire. He knows that Freire will trot out the race card, so he chooses his words very carefully. And of course, Freire walks right into it!
My favorite part:
Freire: ...You would have to assume that a whole bunch of republicans are racist
for them to be doing this. It makes absolutely no sense-
Melber: I don't know who brought up race. I didn't bring up race. You're bringing up race JP.
Freire: Oh, wait no that's kind of strange because you did mention hate. And I'm just wondering what sort of hate are you talking about.
Melber: I did mention hate. I did mention hate because as you know and newspapers have reported you have people yelling out "kill him," about Barack Obama, a presidential candidate at Senator McCain's rallies. You have people yelling out "he's a terrorist," which is a hateful lie to spread...
...That's the hate I'm talking about. It's the hate that's in the newspapers. I don't know what you brought up, it's not what I was talking about.
Freire: [silence] Well, if you're talking about the hate in which someone brings up serious questions about Barack Obama's judgement in selecting mentors that are sixties radicals who have never recanted their behavior earlier, well I guess- I guess we can call that hate. I would just call it serious discretion and really looking into the other candidate.
Melber: You heard me mention the example of the unfortunate remark that was made at the rally that the Secret Sevice is investigating. That's part of what I'm talking about. Do you have a response to that?
Freire: [silence] No, of course not.
Smacked down.
This year we have it together. Not only on defense, but most importantly on offense. Melber backed Freire into a corner. Freire didn't even see it coming. Let's keep this aggressive, confident style going. When we don't back down, we win. Remember, reality has a liberal bias.
