There are two large fires burning at the moment in and around the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles.
The first, known as the Marek fire, began yesterday in the canyon areas on the east side of the Valley. It seemed to lay down last night, but early this morning the winds came up again. Early reports are that at least 35 mobile homes have burned, and a man and his dog were lost when they sheltered in the bathtub within a shed.
The second, known as the Sesnon fire, just cropped up about 10:30 this morning and is moving quickly. It's located in the Porter Ranch area at the north end of the Valley, and there are massive evacuations in place right now.
