I know this diary entry isn't about "more and better Democrats," but isn't it always good to have a little bit of diversity? I thought I'd share this information with you to spice up your day a bit.
To do that, I thought I'd introduce you to the world of third party politics a bit. The poll below has every candidate that will appear on more than one state ballot, excluding Ron Paul. It's a reproduction of the one on Independent Political Report. What do you think?
I write for a website called Independent Political Report. It is a source for news about third parties, independents, and everything relating to them. Since its creation in May, it has become pretty successful, getting at least 2,500 hits every day. But this isn't a plug for that website.
For the past few days, we've had a poll up on the front page of IPR that lists all of the presidential candidates appearing on the ballot in more than one state (it excludes Ron Paul even though he is on in Montana and Louisiana, because he didn't seek ballot access; supporters did it without consulting him). The poll attached to this diary entry has the same choices as the one on IPR, but not the same vote total.
As of my writing this, there are 3,085 votes recorded in the original. The vote count is:
Gene Amondson (Prohibition) <1% (1 votes)

Chuck Baldwin (Constitution) 6% (182 votes)
Bob Barr (Libertarian) 7% (228 votes)
Roger Calero (Socialist Workers) <1% (2 votes)

Charles Jay (Boston Tea) 17% (532 votes)
Alan Keyes (America's Independent) 2% (74 votes)
Gloria La Riva (Socialism and Liberation) 1% (18 votes)
John McCain (Republican) 3% (100 votes)
Cynthia McKinney (Green) 21% (634 votes)
Brian Moore (Socialist) <1% (10 votes)

Ralph Nader (Independent) 31% (966 votes)
Barack Obama (Democrat) 4% (131 votes)
Tom Stevens (Objectivist) 5% (142 votes)
Ted Weill (Reform) <1% (2 votes)

Someone else 1% (35 votes)
Will not vote 1% (28 votes)
I thought it might interest you to look at this election from a different perspective than that of "more and better Democrats." Tell me what you think.
