Despite gas prices, I just finished a two week vacation with my wife and two daughters. Over the course of our trip, we traveled from New England to the Gulf Coast. And one observation was clear - if the only gauge were the number of lawn signs per mile, the campaign would go to McCain.
Which made me wonder.
This is my observation only, but when I was a volunteer in '92, we gave away hundreds of lawn signs for free. We had the phone banks asking people if we could come out and plant a Clinton/Gore sign on their lawn.
This time, I see a lot of Obama lawn signs - for sale. But I'm not seeing as many on people's lawns. I can't help but wonder - are the McCain folks giving theirs away for free?
Sure, this is a minor point in a much, much larger campaign. But it still bothered me that, driving through Pennsylvania for example, that it was a sea of McCain signs. Can't the campaign get signs out to the rest of us?
I'd really like to see Obama signs begin to outnumber McCain signs. Any ideas how we can get there?
