folks, this election is over..... america is still a sleeping giant, but one eye has poked open and sees that mccain isn't the same man he used to be AND that and sarah palin is a joke. In contrast, Obama's calm, decisive, serious manner is just what we need in a president and statesman around here, and around the world, right now. To me, it's amazing to think how things could be different right now had Palin NOT been the vp choice.
Had mccain been his own man, and picked Joe Leiberman to be his running mate, he may have actually had a chance to win. Florida would certainly be a hard win for Obama if he were facing a ticket with Lieberman on it.
As of today, Obama is up by 7% in red state florida. I live here. Believe me... it's RED. Up by 7 in FL says a lot about how large the Obama coalition has become. Sure, the McCain/Palin ticket will consistently draw numbers in the low 40%'s.
But I refuse to believe that that many people in this nation can suspend reality and perform other tricks of the mind that makes them really believe that McCain/Palin is the superior ticket. That number (I hope) is much smaller and the rest are just straight up anti-Obama voters (i.e. - racists and/or others who just can't bring themselves to vote for a Democrat even if it was Jesus H Christ himself running for the blue team)
But don't get me wrong - I'm glad McCain screwed it up. And really, isn't that true of his whole campaign? Bad decisions, bumbling around and pandering to the worst - Rove-style. Palin is just part of the patttern.
And to make this November's win all the sweeter - not just Obama, not just the BIG pick-ups in the house and senate, but...the story I can't wait to read / the photo I can't wait to see ...Joe Lieberman loses his leadership positions in the Senate when the Dems pick up 6+ seats and don't need him anymore in Jan 2009. Good riddance to you and the rest of the neo-cons. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
