Last night John McCain introduced us to "Joe the Plumber" and mentioned his names numerous times throughout the debate. But if Joe The Plumber is going to be McCain’s main argument against Obama’s economic plans, shouldn’t we know more about him? And by more, I mean an actual vetting that the media seems incapable of performing.
Politico reported that his full name is Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher. Kos today reported that he was registered as a Natural Law party member and had was NOT an undecided voter, as McCain touted. We heard him on Fox touting socialism aimed at Obama.
But what else? Did you know he has ties to Arizona? Failed to pay taxes? And loves to evict folks?
Name: Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher
Nickname: Joe the Plumber
DOB: 12/03/73
SSN: 271-xx-xxxx (redacted)
Suits against him:
3/27/07 - St. Charles Mercy Hospital sued him for $1,261.
I’m guessing that he could probably use Obama’s health care plan!
1/26/07 – State of Ohio issued a lien for unpaid state taxes.
Gee, I guess it’s not that he doesn’t like Obama’s tax plan...he thinks he doesn’t have to pay his taxes PERIOD! This isn’t a guy who is against "sharing the wealth" but rather wants to bail on any tax burden at all.
Offenses:
1998 – "Local Offense" in Arizona. Appears to be minor, possibly speeding
Last night address is listed as "Tempe, AZ" – Hmmm, wonder if he and McCain ever crossed paths? Or, maybe he knows someone from the campaign???
Other Litigation:
It appears that there are 293 records in Ohio court where Joe The Plumber has filed eviction suits against individuals. This raises questions. Does Joe own a lot of property? If he has that many tenants who must be evicted, is he a slum lord? (Maybe this is the source of his disdain for helping the working poor members of our society through a progressive tax code?) Why is he so sue happy?
I’m sure there’s MUCH more information out there about Joe the Plumber, but this is a good starting point. A man with Arizona ties who had to have a lien filed against him for not paying his taxes is John McCain’s best argument against Obama’s progressive tax policy.
[I don't have much time today, so I apologize for any typos! I probably won't be able to proof until this evening]
