America is on the verge of a new precipice. Years of political division have sown the seeds of corruption and division such as not seen in America since the Civil War.
President George W Bush has proven to the great divider, the great polarizer dividing the country into Red and Blue States, rather than having the ability to unite this country into one single and unified America.
John McCain and Sarah Palin have instituted a new round of politics of hate, throwing into the mix of political climate terms of hate, terrorists, kill Obama which stirs up a riotous fervor among the fringes of right wing lunatics who now believe they have approval to instigate crimes in the name of republicans.
The country has seen efforts to busts unions; build up military initiatives on deliberate lies perpetrated by our own government at the expense of thousands of deaths of young Americans. America has sunk deeper and deeper into debt to foreign nations driving the U.S. to the verge of bankruptcy while giving away our national security to countries that hold the financial notes on America's failed financial policies.
America has the most populated prisons in the world and gives free access to Uzi’s and AK47s in the name of the right to bear arms.
Health care fraud, Wall Street fraud, government worker fraud, Medicare fraud, Pentagon corruption and fraud, White House corruption, Justice Department corruption, and others continue today all in the name of self-serving individuals who have little concern or care for the American populous. The list goes on and on.
Racism is alive and well. Native Americans, Blacks, Latino's, Hispanics, Asian Americans, gay Americans, those without means this day are seen as less than people who serve at the will of the almighty class of White Americans who manage the corrupt corporations and government; who should be protecting the masses who drive the economy, raise their children and hope for a brighter tomorrow. Discrimination is the name of the game in State and National politics. The powers that be have sold their souls to greed and self-promotion for short term gain resulting in long term calamity for America.
Education and health care costs are the highest in the entire world and the quality has fallen below a dozen or more countries.
The government has changed the game making U.S. Citizens fear them as the government continues to manipulate the masses to its own will. The U.S. Constitution has been compromised; the government can listen to Americans phone calls, open their mail, seize their computers, search them and their property; the government has thwarted the 'right to assemble' and brands anyone with a differing opinion as un-American and as traitors. The government violates existing laws of the land to further their own agenda. The U.S. Government no longer has a vision for Americans. They look over this country with little thought to consequences in their selfish effort to gain a vote.
The U.S. Government has come to believe it is no longer accountable to its citizens, whether Republican or Democrat.
It is a myth the government, big corporations and the religious right's power of the few will do what is in the best interest of the many.
The Moral Majority has become the Christian Taliban in an effort to control religious doctrine and belief in a loving God in order to accomplish their own end by filling their coffers on the backs of groups of American citizens who do not fall in line or buy into their solicitous doctrine; trying to blur the structure between church and state.
It appears the original idea by our fore fathers for a free democracy OF, FOR AND BY THE PEOPLE and proclaiming ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, have become a past memory.
In every instance above, the goal is power, control, manipulation and greed. These are the attributes of evil in its worst form.
So where is the Hope for America?
It lies in the greatness and goodness of the people. It always has! Americans sometimes fail to realize the power they have is greater than the power of government and religious right organizations and huge corporations who try to deceive its citizens.
Hope is what motivates Americans; to do better, to plan for a better tomorrow for our families and friends, for our nation. The opposite of hope is not certainty, but despair.
The opposite of love is not hate, but fear. The opposite of faith is fear, not disbelief.
Americans should resolve to rise above emotional politics and focus on America's future existence, not only for ourselves, our children and grand children, but because it is the right thing to do.
I believe Americans have it within themselves to stand up and be counted and stand against the corruption put upon us by government, big corporations and right wing religion.
A government that works for and by the people is a natural right. Honorable men and women should seek the highest offices in the land only if they honor and respect the needs and wishes of those hardworking Americans who put them there.
The Almighty has implanted in Americans unextinguishable feelings for good and wise purposes. We are the guardians of His image in our hearts. We have hope that our strength lies not just in our numbers but in our unity. Not red and blue, but as Americans, we have the power of our vote and our voice.
When the powerful say that the price was worth the blood and treasure, you can bet it wasn't their blood, nor their treasure. It was the blood of young Americans, the money belonging to the tax payers.
I truly believe in the resolve of Americans. I believe this is the time for all Americans stand up for freedom, for democracy, for doing what is right for America. In these challenging times, Americans must keep the faith; they must stand strong against those who would destroy the very foundation of these United States, our Constitution.
Samuel Johnson said "He that wishes to see his country robbed of its rights cannot be a patriot."
Thurgood Marshall said "Our constitutional heritage rebels at the thought of giving government the power to control men's minds."
The author Thomas Paine wrote: "Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamities is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer! Government, like dress, is the badge of lost innocence; the palaces of kings are built on the ruins of the bowers of paradise.
Americans truly do have the power to return hope to America. When we can learn to put pettiness aside and see a bigger picture for the good of the masses, for the good of our beloved country, then we can return the power to the people and make government, big corporations and the religious right, fear the people and our vote. America belongs to Americans, regardless of what race or creed. We all have a stake, we all pay our taxes, and we all have a desire to see America move forward and once again become the beacon in the world for democracy and freedom.
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. Hope is how we find our way home, through the remains of a flailing government and corporate greed. Hope is the promise of a future Americans can believe in, in every state, red or blue; from the east to the west and north to the south.
America needs our strength, our vision, our demonstration of unity for a common purpose. We will never always agree, that is the blessing of a democracy which exhibits our diversity. But we can agree that in a unified manner for the common good we can move this country forward with our vote, with our voices and with an example to those who lead us, that their days are numbered.
My hope, our hope is founded in the people of America. We believe that America can once again be restored to a country of freedom and justice. My hope is in the U.S. Constitution and in the words of Thomas Jefferson who said "all men are created equal".
Hope does not judge a person by the color of his skin, the money in their bank, the job they hold. Hope is color blind, the audacity of hope is for all Americans, great or small, rich or poor, gay or straight, Democrat or Republican. Hope cannot be bought by the government, by the religious right or by big corporations. It is an innate believe that we are all in this together and we can make a difference if we so choose.
Americans must stand as one; stand against the injustice perpetrated by big oil companies, by greedy politicians who are in the pockets of lobbyists; by those who would seek to destroy those very liberties so many citizens fought and died for. We have heard "Freedom is not free"; and we must do the right thing and pull our heroic troops out of Iraq, rebuild our decaying infrastructure and ensure big oil and the wealthy pay their fair share and stop hiding their wealth in foreign banks. All that we have all that we are, and all that we hope in this life, we are able to stake upon the good of the American people. While we live, let us have a country, a free country restored to the full meaning and intent of the U.S. Constitution. Let it not be said that in this time, Americans did nothing.
This is our time in history to stand and be counted. Truly there is hope in America.
